School-based Learning Activity of Chinese Culture


Activity Name: Celebrating the Chinese New Year with St. Bakhita
Activity Period: Year 2023-2024
Target Participants: All Children in the Kindergarten
Activity Introduction: Through magic performances, dragon dances, and game experiences, we help young children understand the significance of the Chinese New Year and learn about the meaning of the different foodstuffs eaten during the Chinese New Year period. We also aim to familiarize them with the customs of the Lunar New Year, enhance their understanding of Chinese traditional culture, and strengthen their sense of national identity. By participating in these festivities, children can immerse themselves in the joyful atmosphere of celebrating Chinese New Year.

Activity Name: Birthday Party for October-November Birthdays
Activity Period: Year 2023-2024
Target Participants: All Children in the Kindergarten
Activity Introduction: Event Description: To enhance students’ awareness and understanding of the Chinese culture, the school organized a birthday party with the theme of “Children’s Play and Fun.” During the event, the children were introduced to various traditional Chinese toys such as cuju (ancient football), jianzi (shuttlecock), spinning tops, and jacks. The children enjoyed playing with these traditional Chinese toys and actively invited their peers to join in the games, thus creating a joyful atmosphere all round. Through this activity, the children gained a deeper understanding of the Chinese culture, experienced the childhood joy of Chinese children in the past, and developed a stronger sense of national identity.

Activity Introduction: Through various activities such as lantern-making, riddle- guessing, and making ice-skin mooncakes, students will have the opportunity to experience the culture and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival. They will also experience the joyous atmosphere and the feeling of togetherness that the festival brings.

Activity Name: UK Mid-Autumn Celebration
Activity Period: Year 2023-2024
Target Participants: UK Students
Activity Introduction: Through various activities such as lantern-making, riddle- guessing, and making ice-skin mooncakes, students will have the opportunity to experience the culture and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival. They will also experience the joyous atmosphere and the feeling of togetherness that the festival brings.


UK Mid-Autumn Celebration
Activity Name: LK Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations
Activity Period: Year 2023-2024
Target Participants: LK Students
Activity Introduction: Through singing children’s songs and listening to stories related to the Mid-Autumn Festival, students can learn about the origin, customs, and significance of the festival. Additionally, they can try making lanterns themselves and share traditional Mid-Autumn Festival food, allowing them to experience the joy brought by Chinese traditional holidays.


LK Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations
Activity Name: NC Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations
Activity Period: Year 2023-2024
Target Participants: NC Students
Activity Introduction: By playing with lanterns and getting to know the traditional food associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival, students can learn about the origin of the festival, experience the festive atmosphere, and enjoy the fun of playing with lanterns together with their peers. This helps deepen their understanding of traditional Chinese cultural holidays.

Activity Period: Year 2022-2023

Activity Introduction: Through the celebration of National Day activities, we aim to help young children understand the origin and significance of National Day, allowing them to become familiar with their homeland, and strengthen their sense of national pride. Additionally, the children will have the opportunity to watch and participate in traditional Chinese dances, experiencing the graceful dance movements and deepening their understanding of traditional Chinese cultural arts.

Activity Introduction: Through various activities and games, we aim to help young children understand the meaning of Lunar New Year, enhance their knowledge of Chinese traditional culture, and cultivate a stronger sense of national identity. They will have the chance to immerse themselves in a happy and joyful atmosphere, and the activities will teach them the traditional customs and etiquette of New Year greetings, as well as instilling in them the values of respecting elders.
